Why I Do This

For almost twenty years, I worked a desk job in finance, first as a licensed financial advisor and later as an operations analyst. It was stable, and I'm grateful for it. But as AI reshapes what a desk job even looks like, I found myself wanting the opposite of a screen: to be out in the community, meeting real people, and finishing a day with something actually done. Not a spreadsheet. A shelf that's actually on the wall. GSD is that pivot.

Arizona Roots

I moved here from Oakland, California in 1992, came to the East Valley in 2000 for ASU, and landed in Gilbert in 2015. Gilbert is the first place that's ever felt like home in the fullest sense of the word: safe, vibrant, and genuinely fun to raise a family in. This isn't a market I picked off a map. It's my town, and these are my neighbors.

Why Seniors

A lot of my financial advising clients over the years were retirees. I watched the same pattern play out again and again. Sharp, capable people who suddenly needed help with things they'd always done themselves: hanging a picture, mounting a TV, tightening a loose handrail. I saw it up close with my own grandparents and parents too. And I see it now in my own Gilbert neighborhood: a rotating cast of strangers in and out of seniors' houses, hired out of necessity, with no relationship and no accountability behind them.

I wanted to be the trustworthy, local, familiar face instead. GSD Cares, our senior discount, isn't a marketing add-on. It's the actual reason I started this business.

Why Military

My grandfather served in the Navy. I've got brothers, uncles, and cousins who've served too. I don't take that lightly, and I don't think a bumper sticker is enough to show it. The military discount is a small, standing thank-you from a family that's watched people we love put on the uniform.

Hands-On, Long Before GSD

Before GSD, I spent years actually working inside people's homes: installing satellite service, handling handyman jobs through the old TAKL app back when it was around, and delivering and setting up high-end furniture for Robb & Stucky. I've been in hundreds of Valley homes. I know how to move through someone's house carefully, respect their space, and know the difference between a rushed job and a right one.

Off the Clock

I'm a husband, a father of three, and a dog owner who usually has a guitar within reach and a game on in the background. GSD is a solo operation right now. Just me, showing up, doing the work myself. When the time's right, I'll bring in people I actually trust: close friends and family. This will always be a family business, not a franchise.
